We decide today we will drive through the Mojave Desert - we wake up and there is some kind of commotion going on in the bar so as we are nosey sods we decide to have a look - Matt orders a brekkie and the place is buzzing with camera crew.
They are shooting a music video for some awful song which starts with "even bad girls can be good" it's so interesting to watch though. All the windows are blacked out, the stage is the focus and a disco ball hangs over the two stars of the video as they lip and guitar sync to the tune. It's a 60s looking theme according to the bar staff this saloon is popular for this kind of thing and used at least every three months.
We eat up and head off to Mojave Desert via the famous Route 66 stopping for pics and Jacq adds our names in stones to the collection on the roadside. We drive to Kelso which is central Mojave and stop at the visitor depot, based in an old train station. We hop out and tour the old display of memorabilia used 100 years ago and watch a brilliant video on the deserts wildlife and evolution.
We make tracks towards Baker afterwards the scenery in Mojave on route is stunning - we drop into Bakers Greek restaurant, famed for their unbelievable strawberry milkshakes near the world's largest thermometer - can't miss that eh??!!
It's onwards to Las Vegas as we head towards our RV park Las Vegas RV resort - a steal at $35 a night with an onsite pool and security it also provides a free transfer service to the strip and Fremont street which is useful as it is a little out of the way - we're shattered so have an early night looking forward to tomorrow's venture into the strip. God help us Vegas…..
