We arrived in chennai at a reasonable time since we took the over night train, (14 hours). Train was reasonably comfy since we traveller 3rd class, air conditioned.
Chennai was said to be the No1 place in India for harassment... The rickshaw drivers were evidence of this. Every one of them made sure they had tried their best, I suppose, at making a sale. To no avail, since we only had to walk a short distance from Eggmore station to the hostels.
For £5 we found a pretty decreped place, but was the cheapest option for the two of us.
A few air condition shops was about as exciting as chennai got for us.
Hannah was fed up with the hassle she was getting from all the staring guys guys, and I was frustrated with the rickshaw drivers. We soon moved on...
Moving closer to the airport for our last night before I fly to Sri Lanka was a good one. Catching a train closer to the airport was easy enough and hassle free. Nice local chap helped us with our bearings and showed us some nice 5* accommodation... Haha
Due to being only 2pm from the airport prices were double. Eventually we found somewhere for R500, found a cake shop and had a nice chocolate treat before bed.
Last night with Hannah was sad, and I felt bad since she had another 2 nights in Chennai (our least favourite place) on her own.
I was excited to see mum in less than 2 hours!
