Well....we are now in Harvey, LA about 4 miles west of the Harvey Locks and Mississippi River. We are watching the weather and waiting for the winds to stop blowing out of the east. It makes for a slow bumpy ride when you are trying to travel into the wind (an of course you can't sail either). We will be traveling across the wide open Mississippi Sound intead of traveling in the protected Intercoastal Waterway, once we get on the east side of New Orleans.
There seems to be a pattern of docking your boat and not haveing any stores near by. Yesterday, we rode our bikes 9 miles round trip to a convenience store to get dinner. Today, we took a cab 7 miles from our boat for a mere 18.00 and have now walked an additional 3 miles to the library to use their internet. Steve is always trying to save money, but I told him that we could have stayed at a marina for the same amount of money we have already spent....but I must remember to have the right attitude....the difference between an ordeal and adventure. And of course...we are on an adventure :)
Wish us luck in the mighty Mississippi River! She's running really really fast!
