We're in Panama City, FL. We tried to anchor in Grand Lagoon, but it must have had a grassy bottom. Little thunderstorms would go through and blow really hard. We'd start dragging anchor and head for shallow water. Not fun... So we hauled up the anchor a little after 7:00 and took off for a different anchorage. It was dark by the time we got to the new ancorage. The anchor set well though and it was a much nicer place to hang out. Its just across the bay from the PC marina. We anchored there for a few nights and then we checked into the Panama City Marina for a couple of nights. We did laundry and took lots of long hot showers. We'll be checking out the town today and leave the marina this afternoon.
The forecast is for thunderstorms every day this week, so we'll go anchor out in few different places. St. Andrews Bay is really beautiful and has sandy beaches as well as the jungle type shores.
We've been fishing and having some luck. I caught a black seabass, a flounder and some strange looking fish I should have thrown back. We waited to clean them till the sun had gone down... So I hacked them up with our cheap, dull Walmart filleting knife - there wasn't really anything left after I murdered them... So we went into town and got a good fillet knife and we'll try it again.
