Today we decided to take a day trip to the Verdon Gorge. The gorge formed by the Verdon river is also called "the Grand Canyon of Verdon" and it really an impressive place to visit. Although only 60 or 70 km from campsite the drive takes over an hour and a half each way, partly because the first part of the trip is on the infamous coast road which is wall to wall traffic and then at the other end the road is full of camper vans driving slowly along the windy walled roads either side of the gorge gawking at the stunning view. We stopped to eat lunch at a restaurant with a view over the gorge and then drove on to the lake at the bottom of the gorge. We decided to hire a little paddle boat and Matthew and Oliver sat up the front while Geoff and Ilana peddled the boat up the gorge to a little waterfall. On the way back down the gorge we watched some people jumping off the cliffs into the water. Matthew and Oliver had a turn at peddling the boat, Matthew said it was "easy peasy". Next time he can do all the work and I'll just sun bake up the front!
