Ian & Claire's Adventure
Hola,
Today is not a good day. Appart from the fact that this is the third time I have tried to write this, Puno sucks.
We arrived yesterday from Arequipa and within an hour had our camera nicked from our room. We're more gutted about the losing the original pictures from Colca canyon and having spent the day dealing with eth the local tourist police (los lazy incompetentos).
Puno seemed like a pretty shady place to start with and thats just been confirmed. Unfortunately, backpackers insurance only allows us to claim a max of 200 quid per item and the camera was worth 600. b*****. We now need to get hold of a decent camera before the weekend for our jungle trip where we will see fantastic things.
I haven't heard any nice things about Puno (max and Jenny, don't come here) but people only seem to come to see lake titikaka and the floating reed islands which we are visiting tomorrow before catching the first bus out of here.
its freezing and I would love to take a picture of the electric shower in our room. the exposed wires and flickering lights have you concerned but its been the warmest part of our day even compared to teh layers of clothes, sleeping bags and three blankets that we slept under last night.
Claire is feeling less than impressed having torn a muscle in her leg, being more freezing than usual, having synus problems and being cursed by thieves.
This place is a dump. We're off to get some pizza now becuase this PC is pissing me off. Thsi damned place is just unlucky for us.
Cusco and the sun festival tomorrow. Can''t wait
