Ian & Claire's Adventure
Hola
Today was our final day in Arequipa, a town we've come to feel at home in. We dragged ourselves out of bed with aching legs to do our huge bundle of dusty washing, managing to haggle the price (we're getting better at this) they're not big hagglers but generally they let you drop easily by 20%. After a marvelous lunch of hotdogs and bananas we hobbled out of town for our one and only bit of sightseeing, a small church out in the suburbs with a great view of El Misti (Volcano).
On the way back we stumbled across a small courtyard with even more craft stalls, where Claire haggled for a nice shirt and we both spotted a stunning sketch for sale(see the photo) where we polished our haggling skills again and bought our first piece of art together. A bargain at 8quid (or half a day's living expense). We spent the next hour hunting for a tube to send it back in, not bad for people who dont know the spanish for tube or cardboard. We've taken the photo in case it never gets home, but we're waiting till Cusco to attempt to post it.
Once we'd blown the budget we decided to go all out and treat ourselves to a great chicken kebab at El Turko...mmmm. We then bought our tickets for Puno 'Royal Class' of course for the next Morning.
Bye Bye Arequipa
