Ian & Claire's Adventure
We then set off for Te Anau, it took us ALL DAY, through some amazing countryside from flat to huge mountain ranges called the remarkables, then by a huge lake, vinyards, and a strange area which looked like hilly desert. We were supposed to go to Dunedin but it would have taken us days doing the max speed of 70Km/hr and cost us so much in petrol (we were a bit gutted but hey!)
When we finally arrived at Te Anau we stayed at a campsite with a great view from the cliff edge at the back of the van. Its a nice place with a lovely lake and little town next to it, the people seemed nice.
We drove south to lake Manapouri the next morning. We wanted to do some trecking but all the walks required us to hire a boat to cross the river (and pay for it by the hour!). We went for a really nice walk along the beach around the lake and through woodland to frasers beach discussing the future and what we plan to do (ie where to live and what to do).
