We arrived early morning in Kaikoura, we came straight from Picton from the ferry. The weather wasnt good and we were shattered so we were slightly pleased we couldnt go on the whale watch that day, we were booked on for 9:30am the next morning, with worryingly bleak weather prospects. We stayed at a holiday park which was quite nice. In our amazingly lucky way the weather in the morning was glorious. On the trip we saw 5 giant sperm whales who spent ages loling around right near the boat bef9ore they did their magnificent dives to show off their tail fin. The lady commenatator was really good and there was a video with all sorts of facts etc. On the way back we went right up to a school of about 200+ dusky dolphins all showing off for us and doing acrobatics etc, it was great to see. After the trip we had lunch (macaroni cheese .....it usually is or Watties spagetti and bread!) Then headed off to Christchurch.
