The lake to Mount Cook(the southern alps) via Lake Tekapo is absolutely stunning. A flat landscape with huge beautiful snow capped mountains. At lake Tekapo we stopped by the lake which is brilliant blue and had a cup of tea then we went to the little stone church for some piccies. We then went to Mount Cook. We arrived in great clear weather and realised that there isnt a proper campground there. There was a public shelter which was useful with hotwater etc unlike the rest of the campground with no running water (due to freezing). We pitched up at the DOC campground next to a bunch of Americans who were camping and very amused by Delia. We were amused watching them outside as we tucked into a lovely venison anniversary(well sort of 2 1/2 yrs!) meal and had a cosy night sleep under a backdrop of a spectacular mountain and fabulous starry night sky.
