Ian & Claire's Adventure
25th to 27th October
25th
With the weather being glorious and feeling better after sleeping in a van rather than the floor of a tent we decided to do a couple of day walks and tackle the Abel Tasmans from the other end so drove north to Pohara. We did very little else but sit around (opnm our fancy camping chairs donated by a friendly german fellow about to leave the country)in the sun and read our books and dry our sleeping bags which hadn't spun in the washing machine and were like large sponges. Not a bad life at all.
26th
on the tuesday, after being so lazy we decided to do one of the short rainforest walks at eth top end of the Abel Tasman. It turned out to be quite a climb again (there's a serious lack of information describing tracks) but it only took an hour. At the start of the track was a piece of marshland where a group of Pukako's were feeding. We tried to creep up and get a photo but the little b*****s are quite observant.
27th
With plenty of time left in the South Island we decided to take it easy on the way back towards Picton where we could see the Marlborough Sound and catch the ferry to the North Island again.
In the first day we only got as far as Motueka again where we treated ourselves to a stay in the Top10 caravan park and made use of the Spa. Purely medicinal to help Claire get well again (ian had to be there too in a lifeguard capacity of course).
