We farewelled our new friends at Chinchilla and through broken phone calls and messages we arranged to meet up with our friends from a few stops back, Ray and Bev. We stayed a couple of nights at Surat at the Fishing Club area near the river. It was a lovely spot and Allen even got to have a game of bowls in town. St George was not what we thought it would be and we didnt spend long there. We had been told that Beardmore Dam just out of St George was a good place to stay but when we got there there were 'camping prohibited' signs everywhere so off we go down the road. Still travelling west in southern QLD, we ended up at a place called Nindigully. Not a town just a pub! The pub offers free camping, free showers and toilets and of course good pub company and food. The area behind the pub where camping is permitted has had recent heavy rain and some of the crusty top mud that looks like it is hard and dry is wet underneath and I managed to step into it....yuk! After leaving Toowoomba we travelled south back to Texas where Allen had arranged for some electrical work to be done on the car and van with a guy that seems to know his stuff.
