Well Tamworth is over and we are now back on the move. We left Chaffey Dam (reluctantly) and drove on to Armidale just for a few hours then on to Uralla for our night spot. We stayed at a placed called Uralla Fossicking Area and went for a paddle in the billabong. Wow, the water was glittering with gold and then I checked out the sand and it was the same. OMG it was gorgeous but it doesnt show up in the photos. Sandi loved it and got so excited running around the place like a litle kid. There were some little kids sitting on the sand and she was running all around them and in and out of the water......you wouldnt think she is now a 12year old dog.
We left Uralla after one night as the area wasnt very even for the van and moved on through small towns to our next night at a camp area called 'Mother of Ducks Lagoon' at Guyra. We wandered through the town, not much there, bought a coffee and toured IGA then went to dinner at the Bowling Club, all to support the small town that offers free camp areas to travellers.
Next morning off we go again through to Glenn Innes which is a Celtic town. We liked this place which is high up in the ranges. Then we stopped at Inverell which is very large but again, very nice place. We found a lovely park for lunch under trees on the lawn. We stayed a couple of hours, made a couple of phone calls and took some photos then moved on to our night spot.
Our night spot was at Bingara (inland from Inverell) at an area near the river. There are heaps of places along the river for campers (all free) and we chose one that is perfect. The running water of the river is very serene and occasionally we see a fish leap out of the water. We are not sure how long we will stay here, maybe a few days. We have taken a distinct liking to these bush camps.....hate caravan parks!
