We were reluctant to leave Bingara and the Gwyder River camp area. We ended up staying 4 nights there. A lovely area and so much to see. As you can see by the horses in the Bingara photos. We also saw an echidna, a racehorse goanna and a family of ducks.
So off we go again looking for another camp area to present itself. We were headed toward Yetman in the far north of NSW and then decided a slight detour was required. We heard about a place just out of Ashford (also very near the Qld border) that had a nice camp spot near the river, called Wells Crossing. We stopped at a rest stop for lunch then headed toward our target. What a lovely place this is too! These gems are all over the place, you just have to speak to people and find out where they are. We set up and sat looking at the serene view and watched as kids took a dip in the late afternoon. Allen decided he would join them so off he went. Apparently the water was freezing.......they all say that, dont they girls! A couple of young guys turned up about 5pm with little tinnie boats and a stick motor and took off in search for fish. They came back a couple of hours later with nothing. Poor b*****s.
We have met some more people here and the six of us have been enjoying a chat and a laugh and with drink time approaching it will be on again. We also met a weirdo last night, or should I say Allen met her! He ended up being her best friend! She doesnt have a fridge, travels with 3 large pet rabbits, is very excited about her flat pop out loo and travels in a small hiace type van. I asked her where she was from and she said, 'nowhere'!!! Allen brings home all sorts of people lol.
