Hi everyone,
Another day has gone by, and Santorini completely amazed us.
Our day started with my honey going out to get me a muffin for breakfast, apparently he got lost right away and ended up climbing a mountain and back down again. When he returned, I asked him why his sandals were all dusty and he gave me a look full of attitude, oh well. Shortly after that, we went out to meet someone from the car rental place who was picking us up. We got lost, and showed up late, but at least we found our way and showed up. Our hostess Mandy had suggested last night that we not rent a quad due to all of the accidents that involve quads on the island. I was able to see what she was talking about today, the driving on the island is out of a James Bond movie. I saw my life flashing in front of my eyes twice today, and that was just in the first 5 minutes while going to the convenience store to get some necessities. By the way, they have a local wine that they poor into plastic bottles, 1.5 L of delicious wine for 4 euros, finding this great deal calmed me down enough for the rest of our adventure.
We popped in at Perisso beach so Harry could have a quick swim, I forgot my swimsuit at the castle since we were in a hurry to leave. The sand at the beach is black and the water is beautiful. We then headed north, almost to the very northern tip of the island at Ammoudi Bay, had a delicious lunch ( Harry had linguini with seafood and I had French fries since I don't like seafood). I'm sure I saw a slight look of disgust in the waiter's eyes when I ordered fries since they have the most amazingly fresh fish and seafood available. While sitting there, I notice 3 octopuses hanging from a rope drying in the sun, and saw another 6 of them on a separate rope. My thought was "is it too late to save them? maybe they're still alive and I can give them their freedom, but I would have had too many witnesses, and pissed off waiters.
We then drove southward a bit to Oia, the place that truly depicts Santorini in photos that we see. There were many lovely shops and the area was truly breathtaking. Headed south towards our castle until we got lost, seriously, the island isn't that big but we managed to get turned around 3 times on the way back.
We stayed in for the evening, although, after returning to the castle, we realized that we had forgotten to buy water ( you can't drink the water here), so Harry went back out to buy some for us. When he returned, I heard a group of children laugh at him while he was trying to walk through our door since it's so small, I also laughed, it reminded me of Shrek going through a small door.
We had a very pregnant cat just jump through the open door of our suite last night, this morning she returned. There was cat food on the shelf here so I think that the owner feeds her at times so I fed her. About an hour later, I heard some meowing, I looked outside our door to find 4 young cats, they all looked well fed so I didn't feed them but I did get some cuddles in. ☺️ Well, that's it for today, tune in tomorrow for the next day's adventure blog. I'd like to mention that we haven't received any comments on our blog yet, feel free to say hi, or I'll have to make more cat friends.
