Well, we have made it to Madrid, so far so exciting! Barcelona was lovely although I don't think we really got the most out of the city, never mind, an excuse to go back! The beaches in Barcelona, actually in the city are quite amazing, with lovely sparkly water, but so crowded you can hardly move for people, the holidays have definatly started! Arrived in Madrid this evening after a lovely long journey from Barcelona with a nice 3 hour gap in between trains. The driect train from Barcelona to Madrid that we had originally planned to catch we full, so we had to have a stop in Zaragoza, (which incidently has a very nice modern station, still in the process of being built!). The trains in Spain are by far the nicest we have used, even in 2nd class the leg room is HUGE and they show films! On the plus side, from Zaragoza to Madrid we had to go in 1st class, very very nice! huge British Airways type seats, and free food and drinks which we took full advantage of, if only the journey was longer than an hour and a half! The wandering around Madrid starts tomorrow, cultural and shopping together as they should be, plus lots of nice air-conditioned places, it is hot hot hot here, even at 7pm the temperature was still 37 degrees, something we will just have to deal with, what a shame! The tans are progressing nicely! xx
