Thunder again during the night with quite a spectacular lightening show. Despite the noise I slept better but was awake at 6.30 again.  Breakfasted and was out on the road by 9, destination Passau. Turns out that Frau Pöppel wasn't as bad as she made out. She had a lovely smile on her face this morning and we sat and put the world to rights in my best German. I got on my way about 9am, destination Straubing 94km away. The sun was shining again which was a bonus so I slapped on the sun cream before setting off. Another really poor sleep. Not good, I seem to be having a bit of insomnia. So I was awake at 6am and laid in bed for a while planning what to do with my day, I know I'll go bike another 110km. After packing up and eating a good breakfast I set off, destination Kelheim. For some reason I always get lost arriving and leaving the cities. There are so many different bike routes in this area that it is easy to get on the wrong one, as I have found out more than once....

Had a crappy night last night. Gasthof was right next to Ulm cathedral which rang it's very loud bells every quarter of an hour. That and the fact that there was too much light coming in through the curtains. So I was up at 6.30 and pottered around till breakfast at 7. After a good night's sleep and Spain thrashing Italy 4-0, I once again awoke to thunder. Breakfast was good and I took advantage of the fact that I was alone and packed up a sandwich to take with me. Setting off again in the rain was not what I had wanted but i had no other  choice. Everything was still wet  and was only going to get wetter.
