21/08/2011 Day 12. Budapest day 2.
As I lay half naked next to Dave in bed I reflect on today's happenings.
Woke up about 9 this morning very warm and with one heck of a dry mouth! I had to get out of the van. Even at this time the sun was beaming and the temperature was easily 25 degrees. We hanged around the campsite today until about 3.30 enjoying the sunshine and piecing together last night. I had two showers in this time to cool off. We headed into town when to us it felt like 8 o'clock at night because we were up so early. We had a walk from the metro to the castle on the Pest side of Budapest. There wasn't the breeze today, like yesterday, to help cool us down. We stayed in the castle grounds for the afternoon in what was a small town. We had tea at a posh place which was delicious! I don't really know what I had but it was still good. We walked down some streets and looked around Market stalls for some souvenirs. At this time Nick had to run off because of "an upset tummy", let's say and he had to leave back to the campsite. We stayed though and headed towards what looked to be more stalls but were very surprised. We turned a corner and there was a live band playing in a courtyard and all of the locals were having a great time. We had a beer and waited for the sun to go down so we could look over Buda at night with the buildings lit up, it looked great. The bridges, boats, parliament building were spectacular. We headed down from the castle and walked past more stalls and I got a nifty little cup thing that I'm going to use for shots :p it has a red white and green stripe on it for the Hungarian flag so I thought it was brilliant. We walked over the bridge and headed towards the metro line. On the way we saw a man playing some music using cups filled with water, all that he kept topping up an taking out of to keep it pitch perfect. I gave him 100 forints for his trouble. Then finally we got an ice cream that I wasn't allowed to take into the station so I had to eat it quick, brainfreeze! The guards saw me and must have liked me so they let me in on the sly. Got back and I went for my third shower of the day but I'm still boiling!
Final note of the day: Hungary has some fine women! It's going to be hard to beat this, Croatia.
Heading to some lakes in Croatia tomorrow and we're faced with a 6 and a half hour journey :( good luck to us.
