22/08/2011 Day 13. Budapest - Plitvice, Croatia
Set off around 9 this morning. Nick had a right fight to make the sat nav work but it managed to get us going eventually. The sun was beaming again but it wasn't too bad being early on. We were faced with a 6 hour drive but luckily I got shotgun for the last 3 hours and got a hand in the air con. We stopped after crossing the border for Aaron to swap driving for Nick. I had a little walk around the lay by in the gorgeous sun, it was boiling. We went past a sign which told us the temperature and at one point we saw one saying 33 degrees. I was dreading getting out, I sweat at the sight of 3.3 degrees. We arrived at the campsite that was a lot larger than we expected. Hundreds of places to dump the van. We got out and instantly started to melt. It was brilliant. We headed to the information point to find out about the times to get to the lakes tomorrow and we've planned a 5 hour jaunt around, over waterfalls and on a boat across the main part of a lake. I'm really excited for tomorrow. We had a relax day in all, sat on a hill in the sun and soaked in the scenery. We're in the middle of nowhere in the hills. Croatia is an odd place but so far so good. Lakes tomorrow, peace out!
