13/08/2011 Day 3. Berlin
After last night's antics we had to worry about getting into the motorhome park. Got up around 7.30 and got a look around the area where we actually stopped. We saw behind us, at least 4 other motorhomes, parked at the side of the road that must have arrived overnight. After deliberation I got back in the cockpit and turned her around using brilliant driving skills and went into the gates. Unfortunately there was no room. A beautiful reverse manoeuvre got us facing the right way and we parked back at the road. Eventually we got onto the park which was massively waterlogged from the rain yesterday and through the night. We got on the U-bahn, a metro system to get into the centre of Berlin from the suburbs. We saw Hitler's old house, the Brandenburg Gate (Brandenburger Tor), the war memorial, where the wall ran through Berlin and Checkpoint Charlie. Absolutely brilliant weather today, bright sunshine all day. Great day. Now in the van having some tea and beer. Great day. Another day in Berlin tomorrow.
