12/08/2011 Day 2. Amsterdam-Mulheim-Berlin.
Got up around 7.30 in the hostel to get showered and packed up. Got to Amsterdam Central Station for our train at 9.30. Massive station too. Aboard out first train heading to Frankfurt but got off at Monchengladbach (very easy to say...honest). Then we had a connecting train to Duisberg and a cab to Mulheim, to collect the van. We all managed to fit in one Mercedes taxi, with all the bags!
Collected the van and set off around 3 to get some shopping like old women from Aldi. Away we went towards Berlin. Nick started the drive with me as the trusty co pilot. He did a 3 hour stint and then I jumped into the cockpit for a go. Very daunting but exciting at the same time, the van is very wide and very long, it's brilliant! So in total we drove 550km and 7 hours worth of driving got us to Berlin. I got 140kph on the autobahn, I feel so cool. We arrived at the campsite at 11.45pm and the gates were locked... We ended up just parking at the side of the road and got in bed there. Brilliant start to Germany!!
