Two ticks today! Swam with a giant turtle which was incredible and spotted a black top reef shark swimming bellow us! He didn't stick around for very long though as they're quite nervous but we swam quite a while with the turtle! We had headed off to shark bay with our free masks and snorkels from Joey at sunshine. We got in and visibility was really poor but did get better as we swam to the middle of the bay, the rain started so we headed back to move our clothes under shelter! Got back in and saw a few fishes around then this time even heavier rain started and as it was starting to get very chilly on the surface we headed back again. Waited a bit under shelter and spoke to a couple who had just come in from snorkeling- they told us they'd spotted the sharks and turtle! So we were straight back in and headed for the direction they pointed in, this time further across the bay. I had seen a couple of big trigger fish and from our diving experience made sure to keep a good distance- gave the correct diving warning hand signal to Amy and everything! As I thought I'd seen another one in the distance I stopped to stare for a bit then saw this massive shape mid water coming towards us!! I did freeze at this point and thought what on earth is that!!! As it swam closer I saw its two flippers and worked out it was a biiiiig turtle! I turned and signalled excitedly to Amy who then panicked it was a shark too! But when it came into view me and Amz were in awe! It was beautiful :) we swam with her for a while as she fed. Then I caught a glimpse of a smallish shark! Again signalled to Amy and we saw it glide by and swim off! Saw it again a bit further along and then the turtle came back towards us :) it was very exciting! Glad we'd spoken to the other couple and got back in! The rains had even stopped when we got back out. Headed back to sunshine and checked out, bought t-shirts and got given some free ones- win! Love a clean, never worn Tshirt these days!
Now at our new resort on Sairee beach, nice bungalow and enjoyed a hot shower for the first time in a while! Ventured out to see the more lively Sairee, and like it- very different but good atmosphere. Found choppers bar, an Aussie sports bar which is popular and grabbed a few drinks in happy hour and some grub. Also bumped into Jenny at the bar! A guernsey girl :) it was exciting to see a familiar face.
