Yesterday, we gave up with the chocolate shop, deciding it was for the best anyway and stuck with our friends at the cupcake cafe. It was a bit of a shameful day as someone recommended we give this Mexican a go as it was the best western food he's had here, we ended up getting it delivered and the hotel staff even brought it up to the room for us! It was the best fajitas I've ever had! So tasty, with homemade flour tortilla- yum!! After lounging about for a little while we headed up to the rooftop bar, this had a lovely view over the city. We ordered happy hour cocktails, and with the discount decided it was acceptable to have another. The barman was very good and even took our advice with which songs to put on next.
With the horrendous Typhoon that hit the Philippines and headed for Vietnam we decided to change our travel plans to move up through Vietnam, we had to wait to see how hard and where the storm would hit so that didn't leave us enough travelling time anyway. We decided to stick in Cambodia and head to the beach, as a lot of people have said it is paradise and recommended it.
We had booked a bus that would pick us up at 7:45 am so we got up early and had some breakfast before packing up and heading downstairs to wait... And wait.. We should have known by now that when a Cambodian bus company says 7:45 realistically that means 8:45! We were starting to worry that they'd forgotten about us. One bus pulled up about 8 which we thought was ours so our bags were loaded on just to be thrown back at us, quite literally, when seeing our ticket!
Finally our bus arrived and it was a pretty decent aircon cooled mini bus with funky colour changing lights in the roof. We were told the bus would be 5/6 hours so from experience thought it could be even longer, we were very surprised to arrive at our destination 4.5hrs later! Unfortunately we arrived to a downpour and started questioning whether the beach for 9 days was a good idea. Luckily before we got off the rains subsided and blue sky could be seen. By the time we'd dumped our stuff in our little wooden bungalow on stilts and got into the beach it was sweltering hot with the suns rays reflecting from the water- bliss! We got ourselves a very tasty mango shake, which in turn gave us full privileges to their very comfortable posh sun lounges.
Lovely dip in the warm waters of the Thailand Gulf and then crashed out on the lounger with my iPod, I think I could easily spend my 9 days here!
