We firmly have our spot on the beach, comfy sun loungers near the waters edge and fresh shakes on tap for a cheap price. I am sorry I know how cold and miserable it is getting at home and I'm not sure I could read this being on the other side! I do feel your pain as I would not be a happy bunny.
This morning we'd both barely laid out our towels and settled in before we got mobbed by beach vendors - women who walk up and down all day selling a range of things from fruit, shellfish, beauty treatments to bracelets and hair bradding. Today, they decided to insult our hairy legs (they really weren't that bad!!) to the point we'd feel we had to accept there offer of hair removal by threading.
'Painless' they said... '3months until it regrows' they said... Good one!
They also said this would help us obtain boyfriends and change us from having legs like an ugly monkeys butt to legs like a smooth, beautiful babys butt! Charming! It was actually very funny and instead of being deeply offended and never wanting to lie on a beach again showing off our monkey butt legs, it wasn't long before me and Amy were rolling about in laughter. We were shamed into trying it though after bargaining down the price and them promising us a peaceful rest of the day. Painless!? Yea right, it's just tweezering every little hair and their promise quickly changed to 'no pain no gain lady', definitely not the most relaxing beach time experience! It better last 3 months I tell ya. Not too confident though. For the rest of the day it was quite funny watching them suck in other women around with their mocking, I also felt better watching their grimaces at this 'painless' experience. However, the ones they roped into having armpits and bikini lines done had me wincing again! Too far!
We had some lovely swims today in the sea and this time tried the chocolate shake which was very dangerously good!
After a day soaking up some rays we headed into the town area. This was very different to our quiet little beach. Very busy and touristy, a lot more vendors, people trying to sell you stuff and people trying to coax you into bars. We had a quick look around at the shops and then went restaurant hunting from our previous TripAdvisor research. We found cafe mango and it was such a good find. Italian restaurant but so good, and very good value for money- we treated ourselves to 3 courses and had 2 drinks which came to $10! A main that good would cost that at least at home! I had mozzarella starter, crab ravioli which was amazing! And mango with ice cream for dessert.
