We walked miles today! Started off with a stroll to find a recommended chocolate shop.. Oh dear... We got lost a bit and then when we arrived on the right street to find the shop had closed and moved, ah well! From here we stumbled across their main shopping street which is compared to oxford street, not quite the same but a good big city vibe to it. We ventured into a few department stores which was torturous as there was lots of nice clothes, not justifiable within our budget! We have a phrase at the moment between us which goes a little like 'is it acceptable to... Spend 50$ on a dress/ go to breakfast in my pjs/ visit the cupcake shop again/ spend 50 pounds each on a room tonight... And so on.
We walked away from the temptation and headed towards the riverfront and royal palace. We had decided we would do the tour of the palace today and although it was very very hot it was good to see. Reminded me of when me mum, Gma and Karen visited Buckingham palace :), very different though! Lots of Buddhist inspired grand Temples and pagodas. Cheeky monkeys around the joint kept me very entertained, one in particular was hanging into the bin to pick out discarded fruit juice cartons and finish them off, quite the litterbug though, not sure the King would be impressed! The gardens were all very pretty and immaculately kept, was good to walk around and have a nose.
After getting very hot the only option was to cool down with a ice cold frappe and a cupcake for good measure, we decided this was highly acceptable. Embarrassingly the staff now welcome us in like old friends and very regular customers... Ooops.
We had seen this big 10 story building called kid city a few times and been intrigued. I had caught some info in a guide book earlier, the mention of an ice rink and a review that stated 'fun for all ages' stuck out. I mentioned the ice rink to Amy and that was it, our random activity was planned for the evening. After getting a bit lost in finding it again we were skating around this ice rink on the 10th floor of Kids City! It was great fun :D we had such a laugh whacking out some dancing on ice style dance moves to good music as our confidence grew. Amy took the prize for the one to take a tumble, after making sure she was alright we had quite a giggle about it.
With a large number of miles walked and an hour of skating we headed back with sore feet and tight calves for some much needed rest.
