After about 3/4 hours sleep we picked up our ready made breakfast from the hotel to go and met our friendly Tuk-Tuk driver again at 5am. He got us to the temples quickly so we could try and get a good spot to watch the sunrise. People had told us it gets busy but at 5.30 there was literally crowds of hundreds of people fighting for the best picture spot! We took a step back and a seat on one of the further temples overlooking Angkor Wat. Trying to avoid the heads in front I think I got some pretty good photos. It was worth getting up so early for it really was special. After the sun was high, the heat once again rising quickly and the crowds dispersed we set of with our driver to explore Angkor Thom- temple of Bayon, Baphuoun, terrace of the elephants and royal palace. Bayon was one of my favourites with 37 towers displacing giant stone faces. Also saw Ta Prohom which was only partially restored so giant tree roots snake in and out and over the temple, this was where Tomb raider was filmed, the Chinese and Japanese tourists loved this one! We had to wait for the tour groups to filter out a bit! After a good 5/6 hours exploring the temples we were exhausted! We headed back to the hotel where the pool and some lunch was calling! Fell asleep on the sunlounger in the afternoon and had chilled evening.
