Left Surfer's Paradise and head to Fraser Island very early this morning. We went via Brisbane for a quick city tour.
The ferry to Fraser Island was at dusk and with it being dark it was all a bit surreal. We stayed in little wood cabins and dinner was in a bar called 'Dingo Bar'. Although we never saw any dingos the whole trip.
Fraser Island is a huge island made of sand, hence the photos of very sandy roads. It was hilarious driving conditions, because they hadn't had any rain fall for weeks so the sand was very unstable. They usually rely on a bit of rain to make the conditions safe. Our tour of the island was in a 4x4 coach, which I was a bit dissapointed about because I wanted to go in a 4x4 jeep. It was still great though. I sat at the back of the coach with a few others and we were thrown all over the place. The best bit was when the bus driver thought it would be funny to drive faster and then hit a huge dip in the road and completely broke the front axle of the coach (SEE THE PICS) causing a huge traffic jam on the one way road, people missing their ferry and them having to cut trees down to get past the coach.
On the tour we went and swam at Lake McKenzie and did a rainforest walk. There were creeks with crystal clear water, you could see the sand at the bottom of the creek which make it look like the water was brown, but it was actually completely clear.
Last night in Fraser island we had nibbles and more goon on the beach and played games until sunset. We could see Dolphins in the sea just before it got dark...it was a beautiful night.
