So pretty! Wanaka wasn't a compulsory stop on our trip, but a few of us wanted to see what it had to offer - plus, some guy in the spa at Franz Joseph had talked none stop about Puzzelling World with such enthusiasm, that we could hardly just let it pass.
After a fairly lengthy journey down, (stopping at multiple 'photo opportunities' - all nice and worth the stop, but I have no names of any of the places, so now own hundreds of unidentifiable mountain, hill, lake and waterfall pictures.) - anyway we arrived in Wanaka with the sun brightly shining down on us! Had a wander round the farmers market where, if the mood took us, we could purchase ferret traps, fur seat covers, sewage tanks or a brightly coloured scarf. Random is probably the best word to use here. Did have a 99 covered in sprinkles tho. That was nice.
Just settled in when Charlie, who I'd met in the North Island walked into my dorm! Not all that surprising I suppose, but unexpected all the same. So we, Rowan (Kent), Fiona (Scotland) and Mikey (America) played some cards then went into town for a drink, or two...
The next day was spent being about as lazy as possible. Wandered over to Puzzelling World (the guy who told us a 6 minute walk lied) but eventually arrived. Now, I don't know if we missed something, but I feel like the spa guy was ever so slightly misleading with his descriptions of 'amazing'. Still, much amusement was sought over the water that ran uphill, the faces that follow you around the room and, possibly mostly, the photo's I now own of the leaning building out the front (safer not to ask).
The bus was picking us up mid afternoon, so we had a few hours of lying on the grass admiring the view before our bus journey to Queenstown.
