Dunedin - waht to say? Has some scottish roots which would probably explain the Edinburgh-esqe-ness of the place. Really after Queenstown we were just looking forward to resting up and with lovely weather we were not disappointed.
Did the cultural thing and had a wander round the art gallery. Decided that installation art is just some guy having a laugh. With a full wallet. Seriously, standing in front of a camera snapping shut a crocodile jaw doth not art make.
Wandered up to the top of the hill for a good old peer over the city. Now this town knows how to do hills. After not finding a particually good spot, I abandoned ship and headed south to look around the old railway station (pic at the top) it's now a sports museum - yes I went in, $2 entry! Met up with a few from the bus for dinner then went to look at the stars from the top of (another) hill. After realising that we didn't really know any consolations, we made them up. Much more satisfying!
Back on the bus (for another unexplainably short distance) we stopped off at the worlds steepest street and climbed to the top. It was about 8.30am - way to early for excercise of this magnitude! Heard about how some kids had slid down it in a wheelie bin, to a rather sticky end... Think the gene pool is better off without them.
Sure I made that sound amazingly boring, but quite a nice place really!
