Race start day
Up at 6. Got a taxi to Novotel had breakfast then on the boat for 8am
Stowed away kit and got the boat ready for the start of the race.
All crew attended a fair well
send off and went up on stage boat by boat. Lots of people there and we were live on Vietnam tv
A really good send off. Slipped our lines then motored out to the starting line.
Feels odd being on boat again couple of the crew were sea sick : hope I am not!
Carl takes seasickness tablets every 6 hours but when I took one it made me so sleepy!
The sea was choppy so bobbing about a bit. Also the temperature has dropped I had trousers and jacket on I was thinking about putting foulies on and a wave soaked me! So went down below to put dry clothes on and had a lay on bunk whilst we contained to motor to start line. Feel a little nervous being back on the sea and also feel exited that it's a race to qingdao. I so want us to win the team deserve some good luck.everyone is keen to work hard.
We have a media guy called rich on board this Race and is recording us which will be shown on tv.
Race started at 4.15 we were up near the front and managed to overtake a couple. As it turned dark the boats split up we were in the front five.
Our watch system started soon after race start we are now on 6-10pm and 6-10am so stayed on watch till 10pm then we were standby watch. During standby we helped the on watch to take down Yankee 2 and put up the 1
Took us an hour and exhausted had a doze whilst on the rest of standby then went to bed 2-6am fell asleep straight away.
Miles covered 150 speed 2.2-9.7 wind 6.4-27knts
