Had a chilled out day. Swim in the lagoon then meeting up with other crew members. Really relaxing. It was hard saying goodbye to Wendi today. My friend from the uk who came out to join us and is now flying back. ✈️ Gave her some cards to take home. Found a lovely card today in a shop for my mum and when I saw it brought tears to my eyes as when I am at home I speak to her most days. We are so far away and I can understand why people get home sick. So glad I am here and sharing this experience with my husband Carl it must be hard for those with loved ones not close by. But boy I miss my family.
We signed up to do clipper round the world back in June 2014 you can visit the website on www.clipperroundtheworld.com
There are 12 identical yachts all 70 foot racing round the world on 8 legs with 14 races.
They left London on 30th July for leg 1 to sail to Rio
Leg 2 was Rio to Cape Town
Leg 3 was the southern ocean to Albany
Leg 4 was to Sydney which involved the famous Sydney Hobart race
Leg 5 is where we join it sailing to Vietnam then China
Leg 6 is to Seattle crossing the Pacific Ocean
Leg 7 is to New York going through the famous Panama Canal
Then the final leg 8 is back to London stopping at Londonderry in Ireland and Dan helder in the Netherlands we are also joining the boat for this leg
We had to have 4 weeks training to be able to sail on the boat and it's hard work.
But we know it's going to be an amazing experience. You can track the race via race viewer on the clipper website.
We are sailing on qingdao
In the evening the house had a BBQ for garmin crew so Carl and I went out for dinner. We shared a fish platter, it was so big! Oysters prawns salmon lobster muscles : yummy
