We had breakfast at 8am, we both had baguette with soft cheese again as it was cheap and tasty. We got picked up at 8.30am for our tour. The bus took a group of us to the port where we got the boat to begin our tour. We headed to the smaller islands south of Phu Quoc. Our first stop was to try deep sea fishing using a basic plastic reel which had a fishing line wrapped around it, a weight and a hook with bait at the end of the line. We were given approximately half an hour to try and catch some fish. It was great fun but we did not manage to catch any, which was a shame. After fishing we moved onto a snorkelling point, it was not that great as the visibility was quite low due to the tides. But we saw a good level of marine life.
After snorkelling, the tour guide brought out a plate of raw fish that had just been caught for everyone to try. With this, he brought out a bowl of dipping sauce made up of wasabi paste, sugar and lime juice. The sauce was very hot and spicy and the fish was the freshest we have ever eaten (caught approximately 20 minutes before we ate it).
We soon began snorkelling again at our second and last site, the marine life and the coral were far better, even the visibility was better because it was sheltered from the tides. Jay saw a school of flute fish, a spotted crab, parrot fish, soldier fish and many more.
After we snorkelled, we had a set lunch meal which was included in the tour. We had an omelette, fried salted fish, tofu, shrimp fried noodles and vegetable soup. We also had pineapple and watermelon for dessert.
After some delicious lunch, the next stop was to Sao Beach. We were pleased to make the most of this beautiful beach one last time before leaving the island. We relaxed here for a couple of hours and enjoying the sunshine and tranquility.
The final stop was at a pearl farm, this was a bigger pearl farm than we saw the other day. They sold a variety of pearl jewellery. The tour group gathered around a member of staff, to watch her extract a pearl from a shell which was interesting.
After this we were dropped off back at our accommodation. We had a shower then watched our last beach sunset at our resort. We were fortunate enough to see a sunset every night of our stay at Phu Quoc and took full advantage of every one of them. Once the sun had set we took a walk to a restaurant nearby called "A Taste of Home". Jay ordered a Vietnamese beef curry and Helen ordered chicken rice soup. Unfortunately due to the language barrier between us and the waitress, Helen ended up with chicken soup instead. Both dishes were very nice though and this was the first Vietnamese curry Jay has had.
We made our way to our accommodation to relax by the sea one last time. To savour the moment more Jay went to get a can of coca cola from a nearby convenience store so we could have a Vietnamese rum and coke with lime at our bar (thhe resort's pepsi was expensive compared to the convenience store). We both shared this drink and enjoyed every last drop!
