We set the alarm to wake us up at 6am. The minibus arrived at 7am to pick us up and take us to Phang Nga pier where we got the speedboat to the Similian Island. The journey out there was relatively smooth until we got a bit further out where it became choppy. We could not do the original snorkel site because the sea was too rough so we went to the secondary snorkel area which was called Turtle Bay. After snorkelling for 40 minutes we went to the famous Similian beach. This beach was beautiful, the sand was white and soft like powder, the sea was also very clear. We had lunch there as this came with the package deal. After some tasty lunch they took us to another different area because the waves were still too choppy to snorkel where we were supposed to. We spent one hour and twenty minutes here and then we had to set off back. The journey back was more rough where the boat was getting rocked around quite a bit. As we got closer to the mainland and the water had calmed down, they offered us fruits and snacks which were tasty.
When we arrived at Phang Nga pier we got on the minibus to take us back to our resort. On the journey back we saw a beautiful sunset.
For dinner we went back to the '99 restaurant' as they made good Thai curry the last time we ate there. Jay had a Penang chicken curry and Helen tried the green curry with prawns. They were both delicious as expected!
After dinner Jay used an Internet cafe to transfer some pictures whilst Helen booked a facial appointment at Sala Spa.
Jay had drinks at the 60 baht bar whilst Helen had an Aloe Vera facial done. This was just what Helen needed after a day under the hot sun! Unexpectedly the facial included a Thai massage which was so lovely and relaxing that Helen fell asleep for a bit.
When it had got late we said bye to the Tiger stand people, in particular a friendly lady called Kwan Tung, she offered to meet us in Bangkok and show us around. It was here that Helen tried a fried cricket which tasted like crunchy crisps.
When we got back to our resort we packed our stuff ready for Koh Phi Phi Island.
