We set the alarm to wake us up at 6.30am. The minibus arrived at 7.20am to take us to the port. The Phi Phi cruiser left at 8.45am, we arrived at Koh Phi Phi at 11.30am. We chose our accommodation on arrival from a stand giving information on the acccomodation available. Jay got himself a mango pancake whilst waiting for the guy to take us to our room. We checked in at midday at 'The Harmony House' guesthouse. This is a basic double room with a fan and hot water. We managed to barter to reduce the price, original price was 1000 THB per night, we got it down to 900 THB per night no problem.
For lunch we went to a restaurant close by to our accommodation, Jay had chicken Phad Thai and Helen had seafood Phad Thai.
We headed to the main beach in Phi Phi Don and had a dip in the sea.
Phi Phi seemed to have it's own climate as it was alot hotter here than Phuket. This was because of the limestone cliffs surrounding the island. The main beach was in a horse shoe shaped cove surrounded by gorgeous cliffs. The sea in the cove was extremely shallow for quite a distance out. The colour of the sea was separated by three distinct colours, the shore was dark green, the middle was turquoise and the outer sea was deep blue.
After dipping in the sea, we stopped off to cool down from the beaming sun at a place called 'Beach bar'. Jay had a large bottle of ice cold Chang and Helen had a blueberry shake, both went down a treat whilst listening to Jack Johnson, a perfect afternoon! After this we went back to our room to have a shower then had dinner at the 'Calamaro' restaurant. We both had a massaman curry pizza with chicken and potato toppings. This was one of the best pizzas we have eaten, the base was so crispy and freshly made. We dipped the slices in chilli fish sauce, we know this does not sound very nice but we found it very tasty.
After dinner we went to a beach bar called 'Carpe Diem'. We arrived whilst the evening's fireshow was on (perfect timing). We sat on the beach and watched the show and later participated in some of the beach games. Jay won a 'Thai bucket', which was a small bucket with a whole hip flask of Thai rum called Sangsom and coke.
In the evening Helen noticed some horrible looking mosquito bites on her right leg. She was not impressed ! haha
