We had breakfast at 10am at the 'Shakers' restaurant near our resort. We both had Phad Thai prawns (Thai fried noodles) and a watermelon shake to share. Yet again it was tasty food. After breakfast we went to a travel shop called 'Andaman Trek' to enquire about a snorkelling tour. We also used their internet for 20 minutes costing 20 THB. After using the internet we hired out a scooter (Honda Click) which cost 500 THB (£10) for 2 days use.
Jay drove the scooter with Helen on the back. There is nothing quite like scooting around a tropical island with the wind blowing through your hair and the sun beaming down on you. We both relished this experience! When we got to Kata beach we walked along it with the waves crashing on our feet, a lovely sea breeze, soft sand underneath our feet and looking out onto the clear blue sea. This was beautiful! At a beach bar we had a watermelon and a banana, the banana was very sweet and tasty. Helen had a lemon shake which was refreshing.
After spending a good amount of time on Kata beach we saw a dark rain cloud coming over and thought it was best to get back. Our attempt to get back to Patong was too late, we got caught in the heavy rain. We pulled over to get some shelter from the rain. The rain was taking a while to clear so we stopped off at 'Baron' restaurant to have a mixed fruit shake.
Once the rain had passed we hopped back onto the scooter to get back to Patong. We showered and went out, Jay attempted to ring his parents again whilst Helen went back to the travel shop to enquire about a snorkelling trip. We both decided to book a snorkelling trip to the Similian Island which cost us 2200 THB each. We also booked our ferry to Phi Phi Island to leave on Sunday morning, this cost us 350 THB each.
On the way to dinner Helen scraped her big toe on a drain and it bled, we stopped off at a pharmacy to get a plaster. Once Helen was sorted we continued our journey to the pizzeria which served wood fired baked pizza. Jay had a thin crispy pizza with pepperoni, salami and bacon toppings. Helen had the same base as Jay but with pineapple, red peppers and crab meat toppings. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and thought it was one of the best pizzas we have had.
After dinner we went to the 'Lone bar' (60 baht bar), Jay had a couple of Chang beers and Helen had a strawberry daiquiri cocktail. We then went to a 'go go' bar to play the 'nail and hammer' game, this game involves taking it in turns hitting your nail into the wood using the sharp end of the hammer. This is more difficult than it sounds but is fun to play. At this bar Jay had a couple of bottles of Chang beer and Helen had a couple of orange and lime drinks.
