We spent the whole morning looking for the NBA store so that Helen could buy her brother, Michael a basketball top but unfortunately it was closed down and replaced by an EXPO shop, which was annoying!
We later had brunch, we ate at the 'New World City' mall. We both had pork ribs in sauce with rice. It was tasty.
We shopped around and came across a shop called 'Lu Shanghai', this was a small unique shop selling limited edition/original designed T-shirts. We both bought a T-shirt each. They cost 99 RMB each (£10).
We had dinner at the 'Xin Tian Di' district, recommended by a friend called Yuan.We wanted to try authentic Shanghainese food. We did our research and found a restaurant called 'Din Tai Fung', one of the most famous restaurants in Shanghai. We ordered:
Drunken chicken in shoaxing rice wine.
Special steamed pork xiaolongbao.
Fried rice with shredded pork and shrimp.
Stuffed beancurd with pork and vermicelli in soup.
Jay had a bottle of Tsing Tao beer to drink with his meal. For dessert, we had steamed traditional sponge layers cake. This was warm, sweet, soft and tasty. We really enjoyed our meal. The total price for our meal cost 236 CNY (£23), quite pricey for Asia but was worth it.
After dinner, we had drinks at the 'Kabb' bar which was around the corner from the restaurant.
