We woke up at 8.30am. We took the Metro to 'Peoples Square' (a large public square opposite to Nanjing Road).
We then made our way to Nanjing Road, this is the main shopping street of Shanghai and is one of the world's busiest shopping streets. We loved the hustle and bustle of this street.
We browsed around the shopping plaza. Helen wanted to find a 'Hello Kitty' store but we could not find it, instead we found a small stand selling a few Hello Kitty items.
We went into 'Raffles City', a tall skyscraper measuring 222m high with 49 stories. The base contains a shopping mall and the tower is devoted to office space. We randomly found a 'Hello Kitty' store here where Helen bought a few things. We also went to a 'Quicksilver' shop to have a look. We both bought a top each here.
We had lunch at a restaurant chain called 'Yoshinoya'. We both had rice with pork. It was tasty.
Later in the day, we went to see 'The Bund' a waterfront area in central Shanghai. It is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Shanghai and was beautiful to see!
After seeing The Bund we made our way to the metro station to get a ticket to the Financial Centre, it was manic and chaotic, everyone was pushing and shoving and did not queue! It was very annoying and frustrating trying to buy a ticket at the ticket machine. In the end we went to a ticket counter manned by staff, luckily they were selling tickets as it was nearly impossible to get a ticket at the machine as everyone was pushing in front.
By the time we got to the Financial Centre, it was getting dark and the buildings were all lit up which was pretty, especially the 'Oriental Pearl TV Tower.' The entire scene was a photographic jewel!
We went inside the 'IFC mall' and the 'Apple' store to have a browse around, we noticed that the products were cheaper than UK prices, unsurprisingly!
We also went inside the 'Super Brand Mall'. This was massive and had plenty of shops! We went to the 'Muji' store where Helen bought a clip for her hair.We also went to the 'Quicksilver' store where Helen bought a 'Roxy' black clutch bag.
For dinner we had sushi at a restaurant, it was delicious.
The shops had begun to close so we headed back to our hostel. The metro station was much quieter and more organised. Jay went to a local shop to get a bottle of 'Tsing Tao Light' beer to drink in the common room. Helen was very tired, she had a wash and went to bed to have an early night.
