This was our last day in Cambodia and we had no plans apart from relaxing, before getting the night bus to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
We had breakfast at 'Nai Khmer' restaurant. Jay had mixed fruit pancake with honey and Helen had seafood rice soup, they were tasty. Jay was still hungry so we went to 'The Blue Pumpkin' bakery. Jay bought pistachio macroni and a ham and cheese roll. Helen treated herself to a mango danish pastry. We spotted the 'cool lounge' which was upstairs to the bakery. This was a modern and stylish sitting area with comfortable sofas. We chilled out here for a couple of hours then walked back to our guesthouse.
We rested in the room and fell asleep as we were tired. When we woke up, we packed our stuff ready to check out. Meang the guesthouse co-owner let us check out late which was very nice of him.
We had dinner at the 'Cambodian BBQ' restaurant again. Jay had 'Lok Lak Chicken' with rice, he loved it as it had so much flavour, he also had one last 'Beer Angkor'. Helen had chicken noodle soup which was ok and a lime juice to drink. We also shared Cambodian style fresh spring rolls on a last minute order as we wanted to try them. They were different to ordinary spring rolls as they were not fried, it was pork with mint wrapped in rice rolls, we enjoyed them.
After dinner, we went to the Night Market, Helen bought a vest. We bought bottles of water ready for our journey to Ho Chi Minh City. We also withdrew more U.S Dollars to spend in Ho Chi Minh City, our next destination.
When we got back to our guesthouse, we settled the accommodation bill. The tuk tuk driver took us to the bus we needed to get on. The bus seats were comfortable, they were made out of leather and we had lots of leg room. The bus left on time at 7pm. The bus stopped off half way through the journey at this place out in the sticks. There was a large shack selling food and drinks, this was obviously designed for incoming tourists. We did not buy anything but needed the toilet and discovered that they were charging, so we decided to do our 'business' around the back.
Once back on the bus, Jay got chatting to Jon from Colorado, he was such a laid back and friendly guy.
The next stop was at Phom Penh, we arrived at 12:30am, we had to change our tickets and bus here. The next bus we got transferred onto was of a much lower standard than our previous bus, it hardly had any leg room, the seats did not recline half as much as the bus before and the window was cracked. The bus left for Ho Chi Minh City at 1:30am.
