We met the guesthouse's tuk tuk driver at 8am. We shared the tuk tuk with Laura and Jamie to split the cost (11 USD each). Before exploring the temples, we stopped off Pub Street at the 'Soup Dragon' restaurant for breakfast. We all had noodle soup.
The first day of our two day tour involved seeing the smaller temples. The tuk tuk driver took us to the ticket booth to get our pass, we had to get our photo taken for the pass, the total cost for this was 40 USD each. This allowed us three days entrance.
We all started off at the 'Preah Khan' monastic complex ruin. The temples here were smaller than the main ones we came to see but were still worth the visit. The ruins looked ancient with rocks crumbling away but still surprisingly well preserved with many carvings easily visible. Some of the temples are in need of drastic renovation. To get to one particular temple, it took us approximately half an hour to get to by the tuk tuk. We all enjoyed the journey there due to the refreshing breeze on an extremely hot day. We finished off seeing the temples by climbing up a tall temple to watch the sunset behind the jungle. The views were beautiful.
We all went back to our guesthouse and had a much needed cold shower. We all went out for dinner together at the 'Nai Khmer' restaurant. Jay and Laura had chicken with palm sugar each, it was really tasty, they both enjoyed it. Helen had beef with ginger and rice , the beef was a bit chewy and it had too much shredded ginger. Jamie had fish amok curry which he enjoyed.
