Our last morning in Whitstable was as dramatic as every other day with my cousin Penny's daughter Geraldine being whisked in to hospital when her waters broke four weeks before her due date. We're still waiting to hear how she's going because the hospital gave her some antibiotics and sent her home (never heard anything like it but it seems to be normal procedure here). So we managed to find our way back to my auntie Lynn's in Battersea, London without too much difficulty...
In the last couple of days we have done quite a lot once again! We finally got to meet up with Patrick who we count as our extra child and that was lovely - we had a great time and laughed a lot. We also went to the British Library and saw some amazing things like the Magna Carta (another copy), the Gutenberg Bible, original Beatles lyrics (written on the backs of cards and pieces of scrap paper) and heaps more. The Globe Theatre was one of our stops and we were lucky enough to be in time to see some of the afternoon's performance of All's Well That Ends Well - it was really cool. After some highly expensive ice-cream cones, we made our way back home again.
The following day Tony went to meet someone for lunch and my cousin Geoff and I went to the National Archives where we got a copy of the discharge records for one of our relatives who fought at the battle of Waterloo - we were both very excited. The building is fantastic with a lovely lake and so we sat in the sun by the lake and had a coffee while we dechipered the document.
We're leaving in a few hours now so this is the last blog. Thanks to everyone who has been following our travels, we hope you've enjoyed it and we're looking forward to seeing you all when we get back.
