Well I thought I was hungry when we went for dinner at the end of the last blog but clearly I wasn't hungry enough! I ordered a sausage which was so big that it came tied in a knot on top of a bed of mash potato on top of a giant yorkshire pudding and surrounded by vegetables! ...I've only just recovered!
We left Shepton Mallet about 9.30am for the three and a half hour drive back to Whitstable and it was a nice easy drive - I'm starting to get used to facing semi-trailers coming around bends on what are essentially country lanes the width of an ordinary driveway! I even drove up and down Whitstable high street three times yesterday. Have to make it back in to London today though - that could be interesting.
We parked ourselves at the Rose in Bloom on Monday night which is a nice little pub overlooking the sea and anyone who wanted to see us before we leave could come there. It worked out really nicely and we were able to see a lot of people in one hit. There were still a few we needed to catch up with so we spent yesterday finishing some shopping, helping out with emergencies and last minute visiting. Last night we went to a lovely Thai restaurant for a relaxing farewell dinner. There are just a few more things to do this morning and then we're back off to London. Time's running out fast and it feels like we've only been here for five minutes.
I'll be sad to leave.
