Today was THE day in Egypt.We finished our breakfast and were standing in front of the Great Pyramids of Giza by 8:30 am.We got to walk around the two larger pyramids (the great pyramid and the one that is next to it which is slightly smaller and could see the third pyramid)Some people chose to pay extra to go inside we decided to wait and go in the Dahshur pyramids on Thursday.Plus there was so much to do just walking around the site.After an hour of free time we drove up to a viewing area where you could get a panoramic view of all three pyramids.Unfortunately it was a bit hazy but you could still see all the pyramids. Next we went to the sphinx.I loved this however this is where we encountered our first major crowd. It was unbelievable to look at the magnitude of these creations and think how long ago they were made. Some of us bought some headdresses that we thought would look good on yard duty.After the Pyramids we went to a papyrus institute and were given a demonstration as to how they make it and then the opportunity to purchase hand painted papyrus.We went to McDonalds for lunch and finished the day's activities with some time at an Egyptian cotton factory.I went for a swim when I returned to the hotel and then I went and got ready for the Sound and Light Show at the Pyramids.The show explained the history of the pyramids and was very good but it did get a bit cold.We had dinner at one of the hotel restaurants and prepared for our day at the museum tomorrow.
