A 5:45 am pick up for our balloon ride over the West Bank ensured we were up early. The Balloon Company picked us up on the cruise boat and transferred us across the Nile on a ferry to a bus waiting on the west side.We then drove to our balloon that was right near the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and all 19 of us got into the one balloon. We spent the next 45 min flying over the temple, the Valley of the Queens and Colossi of Memnon. We also had a great view of the crops along the Nile and the desert behind them. After we landed we did some sort of Nubian dance to celebrate with the ground crew and headed back to the ship with our certificate and T-shirt that was very popular with the local children (they kept begging for them) and policemen (they tried to blackmail the driver for one).Once we arrived back on the boat we went down to breakfast and then we had to visit the Karnak Temple which is one of the most impressive in Egypt. It is the largest temple complex ever built by man.We arrived back on the boat just in time for its 12 o'clock departure. As we sailed towards Edfu we had to sail through Esna Lock. The scene of men selling things from boats by throwing things up onto the cruise ships kind of reminded me of the floating markets in Thailand but not as organised. One guy got really angry with a lady on our trip because she didn't pay him what he wanted. He tried to chase us threw the lock but the soldiers kept him out even though he kept yelling at the boat. After sailing through the lock most of us went to get ready for dinner and our Galibaer Party in the lounge. They party was a great night the entire group got dressed up and participated in the dancing.I was picked out by one of the waiters to dance and Rene noted how lucky the guys were that all the waiters were men as that meant the guys weren't singled out to dance. Slowly everybody left except for Rene, Myself and the young ones (Elena and Carl) we stayed to the end with the Americans trying to get some dance tips.
