Kerry and I are still on Ton Sai beach in Thailand. Since the last update, we hired a 2 man kayak for half a day and paddled around some of the islands near here. We stopped in at another beach called Ralay Beach (guy knows all about Ralay), and had some afternoon tea, and then paddled our way home. We spend the nights drinking beers and cocktails on the beach while ordering large amounts of thai food.
Today we went snorkelling for the day. Kerry hadn't snorkelled much, but she was like a dolphin. I took my eyes off her for about a minute and all of a sudden she was almost out of view. Had to put a leash on her after that, to keep her in sight.
The food here is spectacular. The other day, i ordered a whole fish (snapper from memory), which had just been caught and made a mess of a smorgasboard salad bar for the equivalent of $8.
This lazy beach that we are at, enjoy a very good lifestyle. Everyone seems to emerge from their rooms around 10am, and walk around like zhombies until they find some coffee and pancakes, and then everyone ducks off for a days activities whether it be climbing, snorkelling, hiking or kayaking, and then everyone congregates to the beach bars around 5 or 6 for happy hour where we drink and eat the night away. We haven't been the last to bed though, we've usually been fairly stuffed from the day's activities, and have hit the hay pretty early.
This place was nailed by the tsunami 2 years ago. They werent hit as hard as some of the neighbouring beaches, because an island gives this beach a bit of protection. You'd never know though, its very neat & tidy.
Apparently the place is being levelled for a big hotel to go in. Such a shame.
We will probably move on in a few days.
