So we are a week into out Europe trip, forgive me that I haven't written in awhile. I've had the chance to, but when the free time arises id rather sleep. Starting in London was amazing, it was a great way to start the trip. We did not sleep the night before our flight from cork because we were all just too excited. London was beautiful and we saw all of the beautiful sights of the themes river, London eye, Big Ben, west minister, buckingham palace, and even Harrods! We stayed with Alex and my friends who are studying abroad there, and it was great because London is not cheap! My favorite part of the trip was getting Harrods for lunch and sitting in the queens front garden, James park. The weather was gorgeous for the two days that we were there and it was just perfect. Besides the cost of living there it was a beautiful place. We only managed to spend 20 pounds... Thank God haha. Two days later we were off to Amsterdam. We traveled by plane of course and got in pretty early. We took our first train in Amsterdam and figured it out pretty well and it was really easy- we are a bunch of smart broads!! We arrived in Amsterdam city, central, around afternoon and checked into our first hostel on this trip, the flying pig. I must say it was in a perfect location an near everything. Let's just say thank god we only booked this hostel has having 23 bed shared bedroom. I cuddled with Alex the entire night...- we were only there for the day and night, so we grabbed lunch at this beautiful little restaurant by the canal, there are many in Amsterdam, so easy to get disoriented, and ordered some yummy sandwiches. We saw the I am Amsterdam, Anne frank house -this was my favorite and so amazing, red light district- I'll leave it at that, and some coffee shops- yum coffee...! We then went to a waffle shop like frozen yogurt and made our own waffles, except I dropped mine on the floor, actually myself. But it was a great time and the next morning we were off to dusseldorf to meet up with Julia! It was such a cute town and we grabbed some pretzels and coffee and waited for Julia to arrive as we walked around the River and shops. Looking for Alex's wipes, my razors, and hollys sun cream. All of which we didn't find until a couple days later. Anyhow we scouted out our first Dunkin donuts! Germany has quite a few, and the iced Dunkin was NEEDED!!! Once Julia arrived it was so nice to have her show us around and have her as company. We saw sights and grabbed drinks at a local bar. That evening we headed to Dortmund to settle in and drop off our stuff. Julia's apartment was so cozy and it was so nice of her to have us, we really loved it so much. We had our first schnitzel and German beer mixed with sprite, and Julia's with banana juice. It was so yummy! We slept so well that night having Julia's huge couch to sleep on.. It was perfect. The day after that Julia had to study for a test so we went to Belgium by train for the day- four hours each way, but it's not bad at all on train. We of course really only went for Belgium waffles and chocolate- but the buildings were unexpectedly gorgeous. It was a great day that we weren't expecting to get to do but we did it and it was awesome. And the waffles and chocolate.. Well they spoke for themselves. I'm Sunday the following day Julia showed us around Dortmund some more and we saw this beautiful park along the way. The sun was shining and so nice out, actually very warm. She then took us on the autobahn which was insane, loved that, but it was so normal for her hahah, to Cologne for the day. Cologne was probably one of my favorite places so far. It was so cute and a lot of shops, an the cathedral was HUGE! We ate so many pastries as well, as we walked around all day and there were so many to chose from! We of course had schnitzel again that night as well.. We could not resist. And as for now we are on our way to Berlin and just left Julia (but this will be posted later since I don't have wifi) It's sad, I am going to miss her, she is such a sweetheart. So we will spend the day in Berlin and see all I the sights and memorials we want to see, and spend the night!
This trip is beyond amazing and very thing and more we have expected. The weather had been gorgeous, the counties are just beautiful and so different from America, and the transportation is unbelievable. It's so easy to hop on a train here and just go. The EuRail pas a definitely was a life saver- because we can go anywhere and don't have to worry about a specific train or time or if we miss one can hop on another. It has also saved us so much money- some of the trains are crazy expensive! I haven't gained any weight yet people.. I know it will happen because we Taste everything!! But we only have three weeks so I don't care :)
This experience is beyond amazing and I'm so great full! I will try and post more often! Miss you all, and cheers !
Ps. The hostel in Berlin has given us free drinks for over booking and the place is so nice. Love it !
