Hi everyone,
Just to update you on our stay in Brisbane. Had a nice weekend. We went to watch Adam play soccer early on Saturday morning then came back for bacon and eggs…yum yum! Spent the afternoon on the internet and phones trying to find a job, managed to set up a few interviews for Monday.
On Sunday we had a shift at the Ambiwerra Jazz festival. It was a beautiful day, too nice to be working really. We were working in the corporate tents, you know the drill free food and drink. The amount of champagne bottles I opened I now class myself an expect! It was a great day and was very entertaining as staff were about the only ones not enjoying a drink! It was a good advert for not drinking in the sun!
Monday we hit the city for our interviews that we had lined up. Came away very disheartened though, nothing really promising. Came back in the afternoon and got the numbers of some fruit picking jobs, they are in desperate need of workers so looks like we will be back out in the country next week.
Tuesday we decided to have a quiet day - no job hunting, just relax and de-stress! Wednesday was another quiet day as Rose was unwell, not surprising as both the boys have been off school sick and Damien has had the fuel.
Thursday we went to Australia zoo! It was quiet a way to go, 2 hours travelling but it was well worth it. Had an early start so we got there once the doors opened at 9.30am. Had a fantastic day, fed the elephants and kangaroos, laid down with a kangaroo, cuddled a koala and stroked an alligator. The zoo was awesome, as they say it's Steve's vision. He wanted to make the experience as interactive as possible so you would come away appreciating the animals and want to save them, I'd say they have done a good job. I have never been to such a hands on zoo and it's great. The show was amazing, the snakes, birds and of course the crocodiles. One of the best bits for me was watching the Siberia cubs playing in the water with their keeper, they loved it and just launched themselves in! It was a great day out and a must if you come to Australia.
Love Hayley and Rose x
