Friday 11th March
We were woken up at 6am by the stray dogs barking like mad outside our window! So we got up, had breakfast and checked out.
We walked to the airlines office to get a bus to the airport (!) we arrived at the 'hut' to check in which took forever as the girl behind the desk spent so much time faffing! (she even stopped to do her hair while checking me and Joe in! Then we got back on the bus to go to the 'runway!' we got on the little plane (which was being started with a battery and jump leads!) and flew back to La Paz! Flight was fine, little bit bumpy.
We arrived in La Paz (cold!) said goodbye to Nick and Mel and got a taxi back to our hostel, Colin and Jamie came with us to the hostel (they had also been stating at wild rover before the tour but wanted some peace! So checked into our hostel!)
We grabbed some lunch (burger king!) I uploaded some photos etc while Joe slept all afternoon then got showered to go for dinner, Craig, Colin and Jamie went to the steak house (me and Joe opted out as we've already been twice!) so we went to Olivers Travels for dinner. Where we saw a couple we'd met on the flight to and from Rurrenabaque (Karen and Dan) who asked us to join their table so we had dinner and drinks with them and their friends (they were lovely!) then headed to the wild rover bar for more drinks and then onto a club called Traffic! Me and Joe got back at 4am as we'd planned to visit San Pedro prison early Saturday morning but that didn't happen as we were too hungover! (I'm so gutted we are leaving La Paz tomorrow morning so won't get the chance to go now :-( but maybe in a way a good thing!)
The rest of Saturday was spent chilling (hangover!) and catching up in the blog!
It is so sad what has happened in Japan, we were shocked to find out once we arrived back in La Paz. The tsunami alert here in South America has now been dropped but we were worried as some friends we met (Thomas, Yumi and Yvonne) were about to fly to the galapagos! Their flight was cancelled and last we heard they were safe on high ground.
We are probably in the safest place in the world right now (being so high up) but our thoughts and prayers are with all affected in Japan.
