Sunday 13th March
We were collected from our hostel at 7.30am to go to Copacabana (lake titicaca) which took about 3-4 hours.
Lake Titicaca is considered the largest high-altitude lake in the world. At an elevation of 3808m, the lake is a remnant of Lago Ballivian, an ancient inland sea. Covering 8409 sq km, it straddles both Peru and Bolivia. Copacabana is on the shore of Lake Titicaca.
The bus journey was fine, about an hour in we reached a lake that we had to cross! All passengers got off and onto a boat... And the bus was driven onto a makeshift boat (see pics!)
Once across we got back onto the bus to drive about 2 hours to Copacabana. We arrived about 1.30, checked into a hostel and went for a wonder. It is a pretty place, very small and very touristy. We had some lunch and headed back to the hostel where we spent the evening watching a film in our room!
