Flight Of The Hawks
Negotiated the streets of Bogota, and 2 local buses to get to Zipaquira, a pretty town 50km north of Bogota. Took in the plaza and the lovely cathedral (largely brick and wood inside and different to any seen so far on our travels), before going to the Catedral De Sal. Inside a salt mine, the cathedral sits in the excavated chambers of a hill rich in salt. The area underground given over to the cathedral is huge and some of the rock formations and carvings are amazing - all lit up by some funky lighting. Watched a 3D film on how the mine works and a pretty spectacular LED light show. The claim that the cathedral is the number 1 tourist attraction in Columbia is not to be taken with a pinch of salt.
