Before my alarm went off I was up & getting ready. This extra time allowed me to get the free bus to Heathrow from just over the road from the hotel.
Check in was easy, as I arrived before many of the days flights with American Airlines were due to fly.
I met up with my family at the gate, but were delayed on the plane due to a private plane entering Heathrow airspace in error.
The flight itself harked back to the flights we used to take in the 90's, as tv screens were on the wall or hanging from the ceiling. This meant that we all had to watch the same films and programmes. We were sat near the front which allowed us to get to the front of the line for border security. Between this & the flight getting in early due to a strong tail wind we made good time.
At Alamo we collected out Grand Jeep Cherokee. If your going to drive in the American south it has to be a Jeep. The sun was shining and we flew down the motorway.
The hotel had 24hr free coffee by reception. Which was very much needs when I arrived. After a shower & a change of clothes we met Charlene and the girls at reception. They had brought Charlotte & I a big supply of Mountain Dew the perfect gift. As it was a Saturday night a lot of the restaurants were busy so we headed to a Mexican restaurant. We all had various experiences but the meal I shared with my dad was very good. A sharing platter of bacon, beef, prawns, pork, that came with salad & refried beans was more than enough.
After dinner we went to say hello to Ernest, Ryan & Sean at the house, were we chatted for an hour or so before tiredness took over and we called it a night.
